School, vacation & good stuff

A little roundup of what’s happening in the next two weeks.

School

My final week in school is coming up and for me that means: tests (math and physics), bowling and cake-eating. I’m graduating on the 15th so be sure to send me some more cake.

Vacation

I love vacations and I love work.

BBQ. And that’s all I’m gonna say about my vacation.

I will be freelancing this summer, via Pico and as myself, so if you’ve got any projects or know of any, you should let me know.

Good stuff

My iPad will be here within a week, I recently launched a studio & I’m graduating. I’m super excited about all of these things so I wanted to do two things in between these events.

  • Launch a realign of my website and this blog. Nothing too fancy, just some ‘quick’ fixes.
  • Lower the price of Spik from $25 to $10. It won’t be on sale for a limited time, it will receive a permanent price drop.

Well I better brush up my BBQ’ing-skills, get a drink and enjoy the weather.

I’ll see you guys later.

Game development

About a week ago I was indirectly introduced to Flixel after Harry released a few Flixel accessories. But Flixel is Flash, and Flash can sometimes be clunky; what I want is stability and speed. That means OpenGL and other cool stuff. Flixel is currently only playable on computers and not on your iPhone/iPod/iPad, a platform that I’d really want to develop for.

Where do I begin?

So far, I have only dabbled in Xcode and made dummy apps. If I want to get somewhere, I know that I will have to read some books.

Help me out!

What books should I read?

It’s true that there’s a lot of Flash content out there. But Flash – see Adobe’s reaction to the lack of Flash support on iPad here – is in no way part of the true language of the Internet. It’s Scottish-accented English. Sometimes it makes the language more colorful and entertaining, and sometimes it just renders it into unintelligible mush.

Thank you, Andy.
